If only I could have blogged in the century before blogging! I will imperfectly satisfy my longing by using a random number generator to pick the year and the NYT archive to scan the news stories for today's date in that year.

Interesting to remember someone for their frailty. (Emily Dickinson also comes to mind.) Not a widely appreciated virtue in American grown-ups.
Noone even remotely Lincolnesque could ever be elected again.
Was Taft making a dig at Harding's sins, and was Harding making a Clintonian spin that the other Presidents had frailties?
